We’ve lived in a small apartment for the past few years and thank God we are moving to a new place very soon. Our current apartment is perfect for a single person or couple, but it is not ideal for a family of three. With that being said, I am always trying to make the best out of my space. I am always looking for ways to make the overall space more functional, especially for our toddler who loves to run around. You certainly don’t want things in the way that are not safe for your child and also, I’m sure you’d like your place to look like adults live there too– haha! I know many parents out there struggle with maximizing their space and creating a functional, child-friendly, nice environment for everyone.
While looking through www.pinterest.com I came across some awesome space-saver ideas I plan to put to work myself and perhaps can help you in your journey to re-claiming a space where you can invite your adult friends over. You can check out our “cool ideas for every room” board on our www.pinterest.com page for more cool ideas.
Use your already in wall closet and compartmentalize to fit your needs or use an old bookcase and add a couple of poles to hang your baby’s or toddler’s clothes. If you don’t have space for bookshelves, you can always put these ideas to work; use an un-used corner to create this super cool bookshelf that does not take much space or create a stylish one like this tree.
And for an adult office space or a kid’s play/coloring area an un-used corner or wall space can always do the trick as long as it doesn’t block off any passage ways.
I’m sure your little one will appreciate his or her own space. These ideas are fantastic for small spaces. If you have two little ones, bunk beds are always a great fit and you can use the rest of the space for a play-learning-coloring area as well as storage.
Sectionals are perfect for small spaces; of course there are massive sectionals so you have to get one that is fit for your space. Sectionals are great because they don’t take a ton space in general, and provide a large amount of space for you and your guests. If you don’t like sectionals or they don’t work for your space, a love seat always does the trick along with an accent chair to complete the look.
There is no reason not to have a beautiful bedroom for yourself or your young adult/teen just because the space is small. Even if you have a small bedroom, you can always find a way to make it look chic/classy and still very functional. Using the wall as best as possible by adding a built-in that doesn’t take too much space or by adding shelves which you can use for books, décor items or add baskets in between to function as drawer, etc. If there is no closet space and you can’t fit a stand-alone closet, a great idea is to get a bed with drawers where you can store clothes or your bedroom essentials such as sheets, blankets etc.
